Abstract
Investigations on host marking pheromones (HMP) of fruit flies were initiated and are still most advanced in the temperate Rhagoletis spp. Ideas and methods generated by this research have stimulated similar investigations in Ceratitis capitata and Anastrepha spp. On the other hand it seems that Dacus spp. do not produce and deposit HMPs as oviposition deterrents (ODP) (Prokopy et al., 1989).
