Man: The Advantages of Specialization

Being multicellular has definite advantages. The earliest colonies of cells reaped the immediate profit: multicellular organisms can be built in larger and larger sizes. Large organisms tend to eat smaller organisms, not the reverse. Over the course of evolution, the meek have generally not inherited the earth, giving multicellular organisms a competitive edge.
