Abstract
In the previous chapter we saw the importance of the relation between the representation rings R(G) and K(X). In this chapter we give a systematic calculation of R(G) for G equal to U(n), SU(n), Sp(n), SU(n), and Spin(n). Finally, we consider real representations of Spin(n), which were successfully used by Bott for a solution of the vector field problem.
