Abstract
The following discussion attempts to clarify and summarize the thesis of this book by presenting the basic assumptions underlying the neuropsychological approach to understanding and treating learning disabilities.
We find it a clinical and scientific advantage to acknowledge that there is both a neurology and psychology of learning ... when we combine psychologic and neurologic constructs, we gain new insights into the differing types of learning disabilities.
Helmer R. Myklebust (1975a)
We now have a wealth of material to indicate the principles of functional organization of the brain, to identify the principal units of the working brain, and to indicate the role of individual brain systems in the organization of mental processes.
A.R. Luria (1973)
