Comparative anatomy of these structures in amphibians; their relation to olfaction, and of the latter to LTM or specific recall in higher vertebrates. Structure of the “extended amygdala.” Evolution of “prospective” (action-related) functions of the amygdala and “retrospective” (LTM-related) functions of the hippocampus.
