Abstract

The aims of this chapter are to capture the overall sense and nonsense of the concept of schizophrenic disorders and to prepare the groundwork for Chapter 10, on treatment and prevention, and Chapter 11, on legal considerations. Basic conceptual issues relevant to these topics are made particularly explicit with these aims in mind.
