Abstract
For an understanding of schizophrenic disorders, biological as well as psychological variables and their assessments should be taken into account. Notably, psychiatry has become increasingly interested in biological explanations of schizophrenic disorders, a reductionistic approach reflected in contemporary definitions (Andreasen, 1987).
