This chapter presents an overview of implementation and organization of the Hercules and Hebe programs [KM90b], which incorporate the formulations and algorithms described in this book. They form the front end to the Stanford Olympus Synthesis System for digital design [MKMT90] and are interfaced to the logic synthesis, simulation and technology mapping tools in this vertically integrated synthesis system'. Hercules and Hebe have been implemented in approximately 140,000 lines of C code. They are targeted towards the synthesis of synchronous, non-pipelined, digital ASIC designs.
