Mapping of the Extended Focus (“Blast Path”) Using Uric Acid Calculi

Uniform uric acid calculi were treated in an unmodified Dornier HM3 lithotripter to map the effectiveness in breaking up stones at measured distances from the focal point (F2). Clinical application of the findings is suggested for stones which cannot be focused at F2.
