Optical Extinction Spectra of Systems of Small Metal Particles with Aggregates

  • Chapter

Abstract

Optical properties of well separated small spherical particles as contained in diluted colloidal systems are well understood by Mie’s1 scattering theory for electromagnetic waves. Additional aspects which are not included in Mie’s theory arise for colloidal systems where particles form aggregates or clusters by lumping.
