Abstract

The history of our knowledge of the classic light microscopy of diabetic glomerulosclerosis began with the famous paper by Kimmelstiel and Wilson in 1936 [1]. With some justification, it can be said that it has been completed by the careful analysis of large series by Thomsen 1965 [2] and Ditscherlein 1969 [3], the first mentioned taking advantage of the introduction of percutaneous renal biopsies.
