Abstract

Total parenteral nutrition is indicated for patients who cannot be adequately fed enterally and who are nutritionally depleted. These patients usually fit into the following categories: gastrointestinal disorders, malnutrition, short bowel syndrome, post operative patients, cancer, burns, trauma.
