Modeling Rare Events: The Frequencies of Fires in Nuclear Power Plants

  • Chapter
Low-Probability High-Consequence Risk Analysis

Part of the book series: Advances in Risk Analysis ((AIRA,volume 2))

Abstract

Distributions for the frequency of fires in light water reactor (LWR) compartments and major components are derived. The plant-to-plant variability is explicitly included and its effects are compared to models where all the data are lumped. The data are collected from information contained in Nuclear Power Experience (NPE).
