Acute Appendicitis

Acute appendicitis is perhaps the most frequent cause of an acute abdomen. Fortunately there has been a gradual reduction of mortality in this well-recognized clinical entity since the beginning of this century (1), due largely to early diagnosis and prompt surgical treatment.
