Abstract

Coccidioidal infection of the eye is thought to be a rare complication of disseminated disease. It is, however, of historical interest that ocular involvement was described by Rixford and Gilchrist in their first patient.1 Furthermore, eye findings have been reported as the only manifestation of dissemination in some patients.2,3 Since previous reviews,4–6 additional case reports have been published and are included in this report. Also discussed is new information concerning potentially beneficial antifungal agents that have become available.
