Abstract

In forest herds of Swedish reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), an increasing frequenzy of liver lesions has been observed during the last 5–6 years in connection with autumn slaughters. For this reason a gross pathological inspection of the slaughtered reindeer in four forest herds and one mountain herd was conducted in September 1972 and again in 1973 in one forest herd. The 1972 investigation was complemented with histopathological and 1973 with bacteriological and parasitological investigations.
