Abstract

The kind of questions that motivate this work are: Can detailed agreement with experiment be obtained in the framework of I.B.A. models1) using the same parameters -or “effective” interaction — for whole series of isotopes, or is the hamiltonian a strongly varying function of the nucleon numbers? In the former case, do the experimental data constrain the “effective” hamiltonians to forms exhibiting the dynamical symmetries2–4), or do they converge into forms with more complicated interpretations? Which terms of the complete hamiltonian are effectively important in different regions?
