Abstract
Electron spin resonance is an important spectroscopic method for the study of biological systems. This technique and its applications on the determination of the intracellular microviscosity and volume of human erythrocytes are described. Recent progress in the following areas is discussed: (a) dependence of intracellular microviscosity and volume on the extracellular osmotic pressure, (b) influence of aging on the anomalous osmotic behaviour of red cells.
