Summary
The advantages and disadvantages of three modes of computer-based training are outlined. Embedded training, stand-alone training and adjunct training are described. In embedded training, instructional software is built into the system’s software and runs using operational equipment. Stand-alone training involves the use of separate computer systems for instructional purposes. In adjunct training, instructional and simulation equipment are linked for training purposes. An adjunct training system is described in detail.
