Summary

The process of cold roll forming is introduced. A computer-aided design (CAD) system for the design of form-rolls is described and the advantages and limitations of such a system are discussed. The principal limitation is found to be the need to manufacture rolls before a design can be stated satisfactory. To aid the designer in overcoming this limitation a mathematical model of the roll-forming process has been developed.
