The Relation between Chronic Alcoholism, Drug Addiction and Nutrition with Special Reference to the Thiamine Status

Abstract

In this paper I shall deal with the effect of chronic alcoholism and drug addiction respectively on the thiamine status of humans. While the relationship between chronic alcoholism and thiamine status has been thoroughly investigated, much less is known about the effects of drug addiction on the thiamine metabolism.
