On the Efficiency Increasing Interaction of Thrust Producing Lifting Surfaces
The thrust production by two interacting lifting surfaces is discussed. Behind the surfaces there are two adjacent free vortex sheets of opposite strength. Far behind the surfaces the fluid is nearly undisturbed, outside these sheets. In between the sheets the fluid has backwards directed momentum. Possibly this theory can give some insight in the interaction of the tail fin with dorsal and ventral fins of swimming fishes.
