Deformation of Polymers as Explained by the Meander Model

Abstract

After a brief discussion, the meander model of condensed polymers is used to explain the relaxation properties as well as the deformation behavior of polymer materials. The latter is considered from the geometrical and the stress-strain points of view for different materials: muscle fibrils, rubbers, and semicrystalline polymers, including drawn fibers.
