Abstract

Before starting to deliver my brief report on the topic of the title, I am anxious to express my sincerest thanks and my deep appreciation to the management of the Battelle Institute and particularly to Dr. Jaffee for giving me the pleasure and honor to introduce this 1972 Battelle Colloquium. Since our meeting deals with the deformation and fracture of high polymers, it was felt that a short review of new methods to prepare polymers and of novel ways to apply them might be of interest to the participants.
