EXAFS Studies of Dilute Impurities in Solids

  • Matthew Marcus

Abstract

There are many interesting phenomena that happen in dilute solutions of impurities in solids. Such phenomena include “fast” diffusion, enhancement/dehancement effects of impurity concentration on host or impurity diffusion, and doping in semiconductors. Further, the isolated impurity in a crystal lattice provides a useful “test bench” for ideas about interatomic interactions in solids.
