Slope Stakes and Earthwork

Abstract

Figure 19-1 portrays the essence of this chapter. Slope stakes are driven to define cut and fill areas in the construction of highways, railroads, canals, dams, and other projects requiring earth movement. Volumes of excavation and fill, waste and/or borrow, can then be computed to aid in estimating construction cost and time.
