Abstract
In IARC monograph No. 1 (IARC monograph, 1972) Auramine O is reported to be widely used in industry. An high increase in bladder tumors in workers engaged in the manufacture of Auramine was reported (Case and Pearson, 1954). A recent study (Report of a IARC Working Group, 1980) evaluated the data on human and experimental animal carcinogenesis. Auramine was classified in group 2, probably carcinogenetic for humans, subgroup B, lower degree of evidence.
