Abstract
Studies of infrared radiation and its interaction with matter form an extensive branch of optics. One way to generate infrared radiation is simply to raise the temperature of the body adopted as the source. In fact, the radiation of heated bodies is the most widespread and important heat-exchange process encountered in practice, and it calls for thorough investigation.
