Abstract

The general-relativistic theory of gravitation is based on two major principles : One expresses the characteristic property of universal gravitation, while the other provides the key to the incorporation of the theory of gravitation into relativistic physics. Both of them can be enunciated in different versions with varying degrees of stringency, and the various formulations of the general-relativistic theory of gravitation are distinguishable from one another particularly by the manner in which they individually seek the implementation of these principles.
