Female Sexual Behavior

  • Chapter
The Hamster

Abstract

In a review of reproduction in the golden hamster published in 1968, Kent devoted less than four pages to a relatively exhaustive survey of the existing literature on female sexual behavior. The current review will summarize findings that have appeared in the intervening 15 years. In that period, research on the female hamster increased exponentially. The hamster has taken over an important position, probably second only to the domestic rat, in its popularity as a laboratory subject for studies of female sexual behavior.
