Novel Optical Properties of InGaAs-Inp Quantum Wells

Novel phenomena in the low temperature optical properties of InGaAs-InP quantum wells, not previously reported for the GaAs-GaA1As system, are discussed. These include the observation of strongly enhanced exciton-LO phonon coupling, screening of the Fröhlich interaction as a function of free carrier density, the observation of a Fermi energy edge singularity and the deduction of a value for the density of states between Landau levels in high magnetic field by a spectroscopic technique.
