Abstract
Several methods have been developed to predict final adult height in girls and boys with normal growth (Bayley-Pinneau, 1952; Tanner-Whitehouse, 1975; Roche-Wainer-Thissen, 1975). Attempts have been made to test each method in patients with various pathological conditions (Zachmann et al., 1978; Frisch, 1976; Brämswig et al., 1981). Since height predictions provide the basis for treatment with hormones in adolescents with tall stature the accuracy of the methods is of considerable importance. Only few studies are available comparing estimated and final adult height in tall boys. The present study was undertaken to evaluate three methods of height prediction with attained adult height in 44 untreated boys with tall stature.
