Abstract

Over the last few decades there has been a great deal of effort invested in attempts to produce lower animal analogues for the human alcoholic. The literature on this problem is substantial and has been extensively reviewed; the recurrent conclusion of successive reviews has been that no viable lower animal model has been found (Lester, 1966; Mello, 1973; Myers and Veale, 1972).
