Three-Dimensional Theory of Superfluorescence Initiation

Abstract

Superfluorescence is a coherent process in which excitation of atomic system is transfered to the electromagnetic field and radiated in a form of a short burst of radiation. The emission begins by spontaneous emission of photons. Since spontaneous emission is a stochastic process superfluorescence is a statistical process too. The spontaneous initiation leads to macroscopic fluctuations of the superfluorescence intensity.
