General Systems: A Tool for the Evaluation of the Firm’s Potential as a Result of Changes in its P-M Posture

Corporate Strategical Planning employs the total critical resources of the firm in an effort to close the planning gap—an indication that future sales and profits of the company will be short of the expectations of the managers. In order to overcome this deficiency, the action potentials of the firm are channelled into either or both of the following strategical directions:
  1. a)

    Expansion: by the employment of R and D strategies to develop its products, or by promotional strategies to develop its present or new markets.

  2. b)

    Diversification: the introduction of a new product into the present or new market.
