Abstract
Current developments in the field indicate that liquid natural gas may soon become a major item of international commerce. Gas far In excess of local needs is available in such areas as Venezuela, North Africa, the Middle East, and Pakistan. On the other hand, gaseous fuels are In demand In Western Europe, South Africa, Australia, and Japan. Engineering and economic studies together with large-scale experimental work indicate that natural gas can be liquefied, transported by barge or tanker, and revaporized at the point of use and compete with gas manufactured locally.
