Abstract

Under certain conditions the vents of cryogenic storage vessels can become plugged with frozen air. This paper describes a safety monitor which detects and gives an alarm when the vent on a. liquid-hydrogen or liquid-helium storage vessel becomes plugged. The sensing element is a thermal conductivity gas analyzer operating in an unbalanced bridge; this makes the monitor fail-safe.
