Abstract

This paper describes the design features and the operating characteristics of a new closed-cycle refrigerator for producing 200 mw of refrigeration at 2.5°K. The basic unit was developed for maser cooling applications, but it is very suitable for computer and cryogenic magnet applications. It employs novel compressors, expansion engines, and heat exchangers that have been under development over the past five years. System development is being performed under contract with the Bell Telephone Laboratories for the U.S. Army Ordnance Missile Command»
