Abstract

Since the beginning of the 1980’s, various biomedical scientists have faced the problem of measuring and validating atherosclerotic lesion severity, extent and composition by ultrasound in large and medium arteries: aortas and carotid arteries were both studied “in vitro” and “in vivo” by B-mode ultrasonographic devices and histopathology, often making use of endarteretomy samples from the carotid arteries.
