Atherosclerotic Plaques

Abstract

It is gratifying the see the effort and attention given here to the issue of evaluating atherosclerotic lesions, especially atherosclerosis in living persons. Pathologists who have examined the arteries of autopsied persons for many years have longed for the opportunity to observe the movement of the process. In attempts to describe that movement, we have had to reconstruct the process by measuring various qualities of the lesions in large numbers of autopsied persons, and arranging the values in age sequence.
