Abstract
The equations governing the advection and diffusion of heat in both the blood and the myocardium are derived here from the underlying conservation principle. The Galerkin finite element method is then used to transform the steady state versions of these partial differential equations into a set of algebraic equations amenable to numerical solution on a digital computer.
