Abstract
The association of adenosine deaminase (ADA) and purine nucleoside Phosphorylase (PNP) deficiency with life-threatening immunodeficiency has revealed the important role of purine metabolism in lymphocyte maturation and differentiation. Activities of several purine salvage enzymes, including the ecto-5′-nucleotidase (5′-NT), vary during normal T-cell maturation: immature T-cells express very low activities whereas the more mature T-cells and B cells have much higher levels.1,2
