Abstract
A search of the literature showed that specific review articles on host conditions affecting viral infection or specifically group coxsackievirus (CV) infection could not be found in the major data bases. Consequently, the reader is referred to general reviews on group CV and/or enteroviruses for additional details.1–8 The paucity of reviews in this area is indicative of a general trend that has emphasized the role of the infectious agent and minimized the importance of the interaction between the host and the infecting virus.
