The Impact of Recombinant DNA Technology on the Study of Enterovirus Heart Disease

  • Chapter
Coxsackieviruses

Part of the book series: Infectious Agents and Pathogenesis ((IAPA))

Abstract

Of the numerous viruses associated with acute infectious myocarditis, coxsackieviruses (CV) of group B (CVB) types 1–5 are generally accepted as the most common agents.1–13 Various Coxsackie A viruses (CVA) and echoviruses are also relatively common causes of human viral heart disease.
