Abstract

The last two decades have seen marked improvement in thermal insulations for cryogenic applications. Under optimum conditions, extremely low heat flux can be realized. It remains the problem of this decade to utilize these insulations so that optimum conditions are attained. Insulation concepts and material development have advanced beyond our ability to use them in engineering design.
