Abstract
In steep seams in the Donbass 454 rock bursts were recorded over a period of 15 years (1946–1960);292 of these (i. e.,64%) took place in unfaulted areas [1]. The safety measure most widely employed in such cases in the Donbass is the drilling of horizontal and rise boreholes. A method suggested by the Skochinskii Mining Institute, of determining the parameters for advance horizontal borehole drilling, enables one to vary the drilling pattern with different mining conditions [2, 3]; rise boreholes, however, are drilled without taking account of the working zone.
