Abstract
In recent years, Computed Tomography (CT) has caused a revolution in medical radiology. Many directions have been taken in reconstructing the tomographic image from the radiographic projections as reported by such authors as Bracewell and Riddle (1967), Ramachandran and Lakshminarayan (1971), and Shepp and Logan (1974). Most modern tomographic scanners use a method based on the socalled “convolution-back-projection” method. Generally, the amount of data collected during the radiographic scans is on the order of 300 points/projection and 256 projections, resulting in about 105 data points. These data should be convolved and backprojected during the scan. Therefore we have developed special processors for our CT scanner. In this chapter real time image processing in CT using a convolver and back-projector is discussed An image display system for CT is also presented.
