Abstract
Light-frame construction, pole buildings, and timber bridges were introduced in Chapter 1 but essentially ignored thereafter. Each of these deserves further attention, so this chapter covers them in greater detail. It also introduces the subject of wood foundations. Design features of the other principal building types (heavy timber, and post and beam) have already been discussed.
