Abstract

At a symposium on ovulation held under the auspices of the Society for the Study of Fertility in July 1976, Hans Lindner presented a paper entitled, “Intraovarian Factors in Ovulation: Determinants of Follicular Response to Gonadotropins.” In addition to a critical scholarly review, the paper contained a summary of contributions made by his associates in the Department of Hormone Research at the Weizmann Institute of Science. The paper reflected not only the breadth of Hans’, scholarship but the diversity of skills of the group of younger scientists whom he had attracted and motivated to work so productively on various aspects of hormonal regulation of ovulation and atresia in mammalian ovarian follicles.
