Abstract
It frequently happens that the cosine seminvariant for an important ∑2 triple is calculated ambiguously by the triple product and MDKS formulas. In such cases, consideration of the relationship of the triple in question to triples which do have well-determined cosines may allow its cosine to be evaluated. Several types of relationships or identities among structure invariants were discussed in §3 of Chapter V, and the present ehapter deals with the application of one of these relationships, the quadruple relationship, to the structure of d,l-hexestrol. The use of the auxilary phase determining formulas ∑l and pairs to isolate groups of related ∑2 triples is described elsewhere in this monograph.
